Martinustoren Gennep
The Martinus Tower Vistor's Centre is situated on a location with an extraordinary history. More than a thousand years ago the first church was built here. Due to the strategic location between the rivers Maas and Niers and being also in close proximity of the Rhine, the Maas and Niers countryside ( called: The Land of Maas and Niers) has a special history. A history one can encounter in the charming landscapes of the Maasdunes, the Maashedges and in the Moraine of Mookerheide (a vast heath), the St Jansberg ( a nature reserve with hilly landscape) and the Reichswald Forest.
The exhibition in the Martinus Tower - entry free of charge - deals with the cultural history as well as the landscapes. The steeple tower more or less invites the visitor looking down from the tower over the landscapes to go out and explore these landscapes, either by bicycle or on foot.
